Peaches Geldof has become a mum for the first time after giving birth to a baby boy. Announcing the happy news on Twitter, Peaches wrote: “yes, it’s true - I’M A MUMMY!” She later added: “My little boy is the most beautiful thing in this world. When he holds @tomfromscum’s finger with his hand its the sweetest thing ever.” New father Thomas Cohen echoed his fiancée’s sentiments, tweeting: “I’m a dad he is the most perfect thing ever so proud of his beautiful mum @peaches_g and overcome with joy x.” Peaches and Thomas had been dating for a year when they announced their engagementlast December and just a few weeks later Peaches revealed that she was pregnant. The proud parents have named the new arrival Astala. Explaining the reason behind their choice of name, Peaches recently told Hello! magazine: “We found Astala in a baby name book - quite an obscure one. This is going to be a very stylish baby. “I wanted a Jewish name because my fiancé is a Jew and the name is the male version of Esther.” Geldof’s publicist confirmed the happy news, telling the Daily Mail: “Peaches and Thomas are delighted to have announced the birth of their son Astala, both were overjoyed at his arrival this week.” CONGRATS!!!

Courtesy of a statement from her spokesperson this morning, Peaches Geldof confirmed she’s expecting her first child with fiancé Thomas Cohen, a singer in the London-based indie band S.C.U.M. So there’ll be lots of jokes about her continuing the Geldof tradition of giving odd names to their children, but being the wild child that she is, Peaches will perhaps go against type and choose a conventional first name.
